ecoFLEX

The ecoFLEX models provide the lowest fuel consumption and CO2 figures in the Vauxhall line up. The ecoFLEX models do this by a combination of technical changes depending on the model range chosen.

Ultra low rolling resistance tyres, modified gearing, revised engine management fuel mapping and aerodynamic changes each contribute to improving the fuel consumption of the models to an optimum, with only a slight trade off in acceleration. The ecoFLEX models can be easily identified by their unique badging.

Vauxhall's Commitment to preserving the environment goes even further. They are working on even cleaner, alternative power sources, including zero-emission fuel cell technology for example, dramatically reducing manufacturing emissions, and our new models are more recycled materials and more recyclable parts than ever before.

That way, we reduce our environmental impact in every phase of every vehicle's life cycle. Because your world is our world too.

One range: lots of ways to save

The Vauxhall ecoFLEX range offers considerable cost savings over the life of your car. For example, some ecoFLEX models fall into Vehicle Excise Duty Band B, meaning your road tax could be as low as £35 a year.

The cars within the ecoFLEX range have great fuel consumption, therefore they run very efficiently, so you'll save considerably on fuel costs.

Another benefit is that along with all the other models in the Vauxhall range, you could save up to £2000 towards the purchase of your new ecoFLEX car when you trade in your old one by taking advantage of our Scrap & Save recycling allowance.

Company Car Drivers

Even if you drive a company car, you'll save. That's because with CO2 figures of 120g/km or below, Agila, Corsa and Astra ecoFLEX models fall within the lowest diesel tax band of 13%, putting more money in your pocket. In fact, the petrol 1.0i 12v Agila ecoFLEX sits in the lowest petrol 10% BiK tax band.

And now, our latest ultra low emission Zafira ecoFLEX model also reduces your tax liability. With 139g/km of CO2 it falls in the second-lowest 18% diesel Benefit-in-Kind Tax Band for 2009/10. It's the clever way to reduce costs for you and the planet.

Fleet Decision Makers

For Fleet Decision Makers, not only do our ecoFLEX models offer low emissions to lessen your environmental impact but the entire range also qualifies for the new Capital Allowance regime. This allows you to write down 20% of the car's cost, and offset 100% of your lease payments against tax.

Smart Driving

Apart from driving a car that emits less CO2, there are a few easy things you can do whilst driving to further reduce your emissions. The trick is to reduce the amount of work your engine has to do. The less it has to work, the fewer the CO2 emissions, and the less fuel you'll need to use. Following these simple tips could reduce your CO2 emissions by around 8 percent, or the equivalent of not driving for one month.

PUMP UP YOUR TYRES: Inflating your tyres to the recommended pressure level cuts down on the resistance your tyres endure while moving, meaning your engine doesn't have to work as hard. LIGHTER LOADS MEAN LESS CO2: Keeping lots of things in your boot creates extra weight that your vehicle has to carry around. Take out any un-needed itemsfrom your car to cut down on both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. DRIVE AT THE RIGHT SPEED: Speed limits are there for a reason. Not only will driving at the speed limit increase your safety, it will also reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. At 70 mph, you use 9% more fuel than at 60 mph, and up to 15% more than at 50 mph. LESS STOPPING AND STARTING MEANS LESS CO2: Your car uses more fuel to accelerate than it does to cruise. So the less you need to accelerate, the less fuel you use. Try looking far ahead, and slowly increase and decrease your speed when you can to react to road traffic conditions. REVVING UP WASTES FUEL AND INCREASES EMISSIONS :Revving up like a Formula 1 driver is fun, but it wastes fuel and emits more CO2. Try changing gears at a lower rpm. For petrol cars, try 2500 rpms, and 2000rpm for diesel cars. PROLONGED STATIONARY PERIODS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING IS WASTEFUL TOO: When idling, your car is wasting fuel and still emitting CO2. So if you’re going to be at a standstill for more than three minutes, switch off your engine.

* The bands quoted for Diesel and Petrol vehicles are for the tax years 2008-09 and 2009-10.
